Prose 'n Poetry Corner

Each month I will look through my notebooks and find a little bit of prose 'n poetry. Often written in a few minutes, so please don't expect Wordsworth, but hopefully these entries will provide a little interlude in your day. A chance to think and ponder, to daydream or to visualize, to perhaps see things in a different light.

Please see what you think and let me know if it is useful or not - highlights some valuable points but in a lighter vein . . .

Here we go again a fine
and glorious day ahead
Then it leaves us only to be replaced by rain
And we will have to change
our well considered plans instead
but nothing will really be lost
provided we don't lose it
and get into our head

We need esteem
to chase our dream
we need to decide
to choose the best ride
and direction if we aim to change
to keep it real
and remove the strange
find knowledge, understanding
and wisdom
look into life
find its gems
remove the mists
find and keep it real

Do you want to wait there
why not go a little further . . . ?
happy with your progress
you can go a little further . . . ?
content with things as they are
but is there just a little bit more . . . ?

as you do know and realize that
there is more to life than meets the eye . . .

What can we do now
On life what can we bestow
Excitement, enjoyment, let us have some fun
No need for anything us to shun
And start each new day as if life had just begun

At the outdoor concert
Much sun, fun and play
A good time a cert
With everyone doing things in their own way

Some sat quietly
Some played ball and Frisbee
Some idle chatter
Rest and contentment - that really does matter

Trees on the horizon
Beneath the clear blue sky
The sun did shine
No hint of rain

And those who decided not to come
Who knows why for they missed such an outcome

Just give me a chance

What chance do we have in life?

Are we in charge of our life?

Are we in control of our life?

If not you then who is?

Someone close to you? Your boss? Political leaders? Philosophers?

Anyone?

You feel you could do more? You feel you have more to give? You have more to contribute?

What is stopping you? Are you waiting for life to give you another shot? For someone to give you permission?

Or do you have to take it upon yourself?

Do you have to go out there and grab what is yours? It may be there but you have to grab it and make it yours (if only temporarily).

Opportunities are around you but you do have to get up and look.

You have to want to make the effort - and then do so.

These possibilities may have your name on them (though not literally) but you have to claim them for yourself.

That is the thing about opportunities - they exist but do not have big signs on them. A notice for us to see and to recognize when our number is being drawn along by life.

No, that does not work nor happen in real life.

However, possibilities are there for you and you have to do one or two things.

You have to give yourself permission to take part in the play.

And, two, you have to put some effort in - almost to show life that you really do want this - before it drops into your lap.

Your choice.

And is it all down to luck?

I do not think so, do you?
